I started buying a house a few years ago with a significant other, both of our names are on the deed. We are now just roommates, for over a year, and I'd like to get out from under this but...we can't agree on anything.
About six months ago, our mortgage that was locked had to be re-mortgaged...and I was put on the spot and didn't think it out like I should have...and refinanced the mortgage through his bank and signed my namee to the mortgage.
I know I could do a quit claim on the house to get out from under it but I feel like I would be losing out....and I also realize even if I did that, I would still be on the mortgage...so that defeats my purpose too!
Is there anyway to get off the deed and the mortgage?
Another question is at the time of re-mortgaging he somehow got a loan too...for 17,000 dollars...a check that I did not have to sign for??
(But it was against the house?...(of course, I didn't see any of it!) How was that legal without my signature on the loan part?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
