  • Tenants rights (Missouri)

State Missouri. My neighbor had one of those clingy deals you can put on windows. They put it up on their sliding glass door. It was in no way offensive. It was just showing his support for his favorite college basketball team. Other tenants put up those clingy things around the holidayies. Noone has ever made a comment about it or complained about it. They were told to take it down because management said they did not want the place to look cheap or like a college town. Other tenants decorate their decks. If it is not going to hurt the window, isn't trashy and does not bother anyone, do they have the right to tell someone to take the thing off? What about bikes on the deck? How much say does a landord or manager have about how you do up your apartment as long as it is not causing any problems, not offensive in anyway? I am afraid tenants will start moving out.

Isnt easier to just remove the item? Making waves can cause more serious problems. Choose your battles!

What does your lease say on these issues? Does it say window decorations are not permitted? Does it say that items may not be stored on your decks? You have to abide by whatever provisions you agreed to in your lease.
