  • Commercial building sold, the real estate agent change all the locks

I currently own a business in a commercial building. The owner of the building passed away about a year a ago and property was inherited by a non-profit org via will. The president of the non-profit org put the building on the market for sale and had the real estate agent change all the locks without any giving me any notification. Is this legally possible? What rights do I have in this situtation?

Normally no. They take the building subject to the lease and until the lease expires. You may threaten to take them to small claims or other court. The police will also usually escort you back in if you have the lease with you.
