I recently moved into the home my boyfriend owns. I pay him the average going rate for room rental for this area plus half the food bills. One room is designated specifically for my use. Despite my longstanding suggestion, he refuses to sign a cohabitation agreement. Does he have legal authority to ask me to leave at any time, or are there laws in Massachusetts which would protect me (such as requiring a certain period of time for me to make new living arrangements)? My gratitude in advance for your response.

Once you have established residency in your BF's place, he can give you a 30 day notice to leave if you have no written agreement. He does not need a reason to do this if you have no written agreement. He can just terminate your tenancy. If you do not leave within those 30 days, he may take you to court and evict you for failing to leave after being given proper notice.

That is true, my friend just moved into a property with no lease signed, now the land lord wants to evict her in 3 days.. I new that they had no right to kick her out on the street without notice.. So today i'm going to have a chat with the land lord and ex-plane to them that they have to give her a written paper saying they want to evict her in 30 day.. is that right?? just to double check..
Thank you

No. It's not correct anyway. The landlord can serve a pay or quit notice that requires either payment or eviction in so many days. If that does not rectify the problem, the landlord then goes to court and is awarded an eviction notice, which he serves on the tenant, giving the tenant 30 days to move out.
Incidentally, it's "explain" not "ex-plane". Just an FYI.

You formally evict her in accordance with state and local laws.Due to a recent promotion, I should now be referred to as Major Obvious.
I would not be trying to provide information and knowledge if I did not sympathize.
Some days it is just not worth chewing through the restraints to face life.
