  • HELP! I am Being Extorted & Have Written Proof(Texas)

Background: Due to financial hardship during the pandemic, I began escorting part-time. I am well aware that prostitution is illegal. I do not sell sexual services; I accept donations for my time & companionship. The website I am on states that very clearly

Recently, a neighbor across the hall, (who has a very serious meth addiction), was evicted and banned from the property. Long before he went down the rabbit hole of addiction, I had exchanged #'s (at that time he also lived with his pregnant GF and we were all friendly). She moved out, taking the newborn with her. This is when I started noticing his drug addiction, and he seemed to ALWAYS need something ....I stopped answering my door and told the front office. He was harassing others as well, and was eventually evicted.
I'm not sure HOW he found me on the escort site, but he did.
He started texting me threats...(not smart!)
He sent numerous texts, demanding that I send $100 to his CashApp account, or he would show the apartment office my profile on the escort site. I wasn't too afraid - as he is banned from the property, and they are well aware that he is completely bonkers on meth. I have a great relationship with everyone in the office, as well as the owner of the building. I've been a model tenant. No complaints, very quiet, never late with rent, etc. I see perhaps 3 gentlemen per WEEK. He, on the other hand, has active warrants, was evicted, beat his pregnant GF numerous times (which was reported).
I did not CashApp him, obviously. I told him to go ahead and tell the office - I knew he wouldnt/couldnt, as he was told he would be arrested if he steps on the property.
He texted a 2nd threat. $100 CaahApp or he would circumvent the office and email Corporate directly. He even gave me a, "countdown". "Pack your sh7t", "get ready to move", etc. I did not respond.
He texted again, telling me that he did indeed email Corporate (I assume he sent my name, apartment # and a link to the escort site).
It's been a few days. I do not think much will come of an unhinged rambling email.

Due to the stigma of escorting, and even though I have WRITTEN PROOF of extortion, I'm not sure I want to go to the police.
I failed to mention that he also threatened my life - saying, "you're gonna die". I have no proof of that; no witnesses. I assume that kind of thing is common, and would go nowhere.

Seeing that I have written proof of extortion - what should I do next?

This man is now homeless and has been seen near the apartments. I HAVE to walk places, and I worry about my safety now.

Bullsh-t. The criminal justice system doesn't make that distinction. If you have sex with your "companion" in exchange for "donations" it's prostitution.

If you don't want to go to the police, all you can do is ignore him. Block his texts, block his calls, change your number if you have to. Take down your profile from the escort service and quit being a criminal yourself.

Then hope he eventually gives up and stops bothering you.
