  • Proof of Ownership - recieved gifts/inheritance

I received gifts from my mother more than 20 yrs ago such as family furniture, portraits, etc. How do I prove ownership without getting them insured? TY

You don't have to prove ownership in order to have them insured, and you do not have to individually insure them. Property or renter's insurance will cover those items.

After 20 years, these items will have significantly depreciated in value, so the value of them when purchased would be nowhere near the same value they are today.

Gifts are just that; gifts, and as such, there is really no need to "prove" ownership.

If you happen to have property and nobody can prove you have stolen it then it is your property whether it be a gift or not.
