Now more than ever, consumers around the world have access to financial services. Why? Most experts agree the COVID-19 crisis has accelerated the development and implementation of financial technology solutions already in the works before the crisis. What does that accelerated evolution mean for the industry, for consumers, and for the attorneys who represent them? At PLI's FinTech 2021, you'll hear from technology leaders, government regulators, and leading attorneys about the legal and compliance issues arising out of recent developments in financial technology.

                        Key Topics Will Include:

Get an update on crowdfunding and other capital-raising platforms
Examine the proliferation of robo-advisors, how they've performed during a volatile market, and the future of financial advice
Learn the latest SEC guidance relating to the use of financial technology for trading and other activities
Take a look at the expansion of blockchain technology

                          drones and the law

                          Overview

While drones have been popular with consumers for years, their use by government entities, including state and local law enforcement agencies, is becoming more widespread. Drones are being used for a variety of purposes, ranging from public safety functions to the recording images of real property. A recent Michigan appellate decision in a zoning dispute addressed the legality of the use of a drone by a municipality to take aerial images of property without the property owners’ permission and, in doing so, considered a number of issues on which this Briefing will focus.
Join Gail Gottehrer of the Law Office of Gail Gottehrer LLC and Ronald J. Hedges of Dentons US LLP as they discuss, among other things:
                          • The constitutional distinction between private and state action and the impact of third parties on that distinction (10 minutes)
                          • U.S. Supreme Court precedent that may affect drone use (10 minutes)
                          • FAA regulations and how these impact drone use (10 minutes)
                          • Privacy implications raised by drone use under, among other laws, the newly-enacted Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (10 minutes)
                          • Analysis of Long Lake Tp. v. Maxon (20 minutes)
