Postgraduate Taught Courses: Law 2009 Entry
LLM
If you’re keen to grapple with the intellectual challenge of law and discover how to put theory into practice, this course could be for you, wherever you are in the world.
The focus of the programme is on International Business Law, but there are six named awards which allow you to reflect your own specialism, including:
Students do not have to have a law degree to enrol on the programme and there are many non-legal careers where a law degree focused on a relevant specialist area may be a career advantage.
This includes for example an LLM in Environmental Law, which may be of benefit to those involved in local government or planning, while an LLM in IT law may be more appropriate for those employed in the IT sector.
Students can study on site at The Park, but also have the opportunity to study online with a distance learning facility allowing global access.
This gives you the chance to study at your own pace and additional flexibility, allowing you to explore the world of law either in the classroom or from the comfort of your own home, wherever it may be.
Masters Top-up
If you have a relevant postgraduate diploma or professional award (eg LPC or BVC) then you may be able to top this up to a Masters degree by completion of a refresher module on legal research and a dissertation. For further information, please contact the course leader to find out if you are eligible.

Honours Degree / Qualifying Law Degree
Packed with intellectual challenges, stimulating and relevant, this course gives you the expertise you need for your future career.
You gain a sound knowledge of the fundamental principles of law, along with the study of a range of optional subjects. There is also a strong emphasis on developing the intellectual and practical skills associated with law.
This law degree — the LLB (Hons) — meets the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Bar Council for a qualifying law degree. Successful completion of the programme enables you to continue to the vocational stage of legal education. In due course you can qualify as a solicitor or barrister. Many LLB graduates do, however, pursue a variety of other professions.
You can complete the LLB degree in two years by following our “Fast Track programme”.
Students will study for an additional period of time during the summer. You’ll study the same programme, but it will be compressed into two calendar years.
We also offer a Graduate Diploma in Law. This is a distance-learning “conversion” course, suitable for people who already hold an undergraduate degree in subjects other than law.
