  • small firm employer asks me to wait until january to receive full payment

If my small firm employer asks me to wait until january to receive full payment (he will pay 70% through the end of year), do I break any laws or rules accepting that deal?
It's not illegal in any way is it?

Is the income taxable to me in JAN then?

You may file a complaint with Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (the Labor Commissioner's Office) regarding delay payment of wages. Your employer may be held liable for violation of Section 203 of Labor Code for failing to pay wages.

It's not illegal for you to accept.

It's certainly illegal for him to do it.
