    Unfortunately, yes.

    However, what he cannot do is deduct it from your pay without your consent. Even with your consent the deduction cannot bring you below minimum wage.

    And by "make you" that means your employment may be terminated if you don't agree to pay for it.

      And you may have given your employer permission to deduct if you ever signed an agreement for employer-provided uniforms.
