  • Being forced to work the next day less than 24hrs before

Is it legal for an employeur to force you to work on a schedlued day off?and this less than 24hrs before?

I worked this week from Mon to Fri from 3pm to midnight ( as scheduled).
I was scheduled off saturday and sunday.
Friday at 5pm my employeur tells me that I have to come to work the next day as the person is sick.
I had plans so I told him that I couldn't.
He told me that my name was picked out of the hat and that I have no chose.

Can they force me to come the next day less than 24hrs before when I was scheduled off?
I felt a lot of pressure and as if I have no rights.
We are a team of international employees and I wondering if they are not taking in advantage our lack of knowledge in the German law.

I wish to inform you that daily productive working time generally may not exceed eight hours. A daily working time of up to ten hours productive working time is possible if, over a period of six months, the average daily working time does not exceed eight hours. If your time exceeded these limits then your employer has violated employment rules and necessary relief can be sought by you through court action.

Hello friend, unfortunately, you cannot do anything in this if your employer is asking you to come on a off day. The rule is there against working more than 8 hours in a day. For now, I think the best option is to go to office and ask your manager to give you some another day off as a supplement.
