I went into work and was told i had to give my cellphone to the supervisor to lock in the office. I did so but am upset because i only use my cell on my break. And only the shift i am on is required to do so. From now on it will be locked in my vehicle but do they have a legal right to do that?

Yes. If you do not like the company policy, leave your phone in the car or get another job.Due to a recent promotion, I should now be referred to as Major Obvious.
I would not be trying to provide information and knowledge if I did not sympathize.
Some days it is just not worth chewing through the restraints to face life. -

I wish to inform you that cell phone restriction can be imposed at workplace. In this regard your employer can ask you to keep cell phone in lock as there was a restriction on its use. You may or may not use cell phone but if there is a restriction on keeping cell phone then you may not keep cell phone.

Yes, an employer can decide what personal equipment someone brings into the workplace. If one has their cell phone, they can be distrupted from their work by phone calls and it is an employer's right to expect an employee to remain focused on the job at hand.
If you lock it in your vehicle, you can use it on your breaks.Comment
