  • Power of a firm ‘No’ i realized in a Sexual Harassment Case

Growing up in an amazingly vibrant & lively city of Los Angeles it’s not common for people to experience heinous crime like sexual harassment in public places but like there are exceptions everywhere, Los Angeles is no different. When i was a student pursuing my Master’s i came across sexual harassment while attending a music concert. A man was trying to misconduct with me & at first it was extremely appalling & disgustful for me but for once i thought that it might be a mistake & ignored but when he tried to do it again he completely tested my limits & in that moment i realized the power of a strong & firm ‘NO’.

It’s not like that everything need to be an intense tearing match in order for it to stand as a fight for our rights or for highlighting the wrong. An independent, strong & complete two letter word ‘No’ with warning can respectfully work in a sexual harassment case.

I guess your masters degree isn't in English.

Or social work. No can be a powerful word. Unfortunately that’s all it is and for some it means nothing.

Do not try and take away from the horror of those who have been raped or sexually assaulted by intimating that no is a solution. If it works 1% of the time I’d be shocked.

I completely agree with you. The two most heinous crimes on earth are rape & sexual harassment & I feel ashamed being a part of this disgusting atmosphere where females of our society doesn't feel safe in presence of US! the other half ! I have so many awesome females around me who are bold, beautiful and intelligent & i feel extremely blessed to have them in my life. I strongly believe that being physically stronger than women doesn't mean that you can dominate them for your ego or for your blunt perspectives. It's the right time to let them have the equality and freedom they deserve and as men we need to be understanding enough to accept a 'NO' from a woman.

Besides objecting these type of heinous behavior, you should bring the attention of law enforcement to these line of incidents.

Sexual harassment is prohibited by both federal and state law. In California, the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) makes sexual harassment illegal in the public. FEHA makes it illegal to discriminate against, or harass a women on the basis of sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation, among several other protected classes.

It's not a matter for the police in this country. Wake up.
