My name is Alex and I live in US. Last summer I was in Kiev, Ukraine and decided to invest money into real estate. A few new residential houses were advertised in different newspapers and magazines all around in Ukraine, so I selected one that appealed to me because of location and price. (Contractor had been listed along with his license number.)The house was supposed to be 22 floors high and at that time the workers put 3 or 4 floors already. It is a common practice for investors to make agreement with contractor while the building is still under construction. I have met with the contractor at the notary on August 30, 2005 and we signed official agreement enabling me an ownership of a 2 room apartment (about 70m2) on the 20-th floor of the building. At that time the price for 1 m2 was $1050 US and I paid 100% upfront. The building was advertised to be complete in the second quarter of 2006. This February I was in Kiev again and found out that contractor companies, that advertised their projects in Kiev had abandoned the construction sites and disappeared with investors
