A while ago, I was active on paid online dating site. As the site claimed to check all the girls' identities by making copies of their passports I thought most women were genuine. I communicated with a Brazilian woman for 9 months till I found out she had been dating another guy for several years. The good thing is that I got quite some evidence of this to back this up as she openly talks about her long-lasting relationship. Her boyfriend is also shown several times and his FB profile confrms this. I am seeking significant compensation that pays me for the lost (worked) hours. How realistic is this goal, how should I go about this and what would be the legal fees involved?

I wish to inform you that you can make website liable if website had failed to perform its duties. In this regard if website had taken copy of passport then they are not liable because they had conducted security check. Copy of passport reveals photo and name and address of the person and hence certain details are confirmed. If any of the details provided to you were false then you can make website liable. As regarding dating you cannot make website liable because website had undertaken identification of person and not as regards persons affairs.

You said that the site claims to check identities. You had no issue with WHO the woman was, and you never claimed that she wasn't who she said she was.
Your issue is that the woman was not available to date because she already had a long-term boyfriend. That's something that the dating site doesn't regulate, and that should have been addressed with the individual when you put in all that "work". Any problem you have with what she did or did not tell you is between you and the woman, and the site has NO responsibility for it."If it ain't in writing, it never happened."

You have no recourse to be reimbursed for mental masturbation. Think of all the good nights of sleep you had. This is what happens when you use on of those borderline illegal foreign girl setup sites. Are you claiming she is not who her passport says she is? Are you prepared to go to her home country or the web sites country and sue for you membership fee back?Due to a recent promotion, I should now be referred to as Major Obvious.
I would not be trying to provide information and knowledge if I did not sympathize.
Some days it is just not worth chewing through the restraints to face life.
