  • E-mail hacked... Invasion of privacy?

I know the identity of an individual who has put my car up for sale on Craig\'s list, and now has hacked into my e-mail, changed my passwords, and read personal letters. I was able to get the password from a friend of his. He actually got someone to hack my e-mail. I called the non-emergency for the police, and they said I could make a statement, but isn't there some sort of invasion of privacy. There has to be some sort of law regarding something like this, if anything what are my rights, I just really want him to leave me alone.

That is illegal; you can file charges and ask the DA to prosecute if damages occurred. You can file civilly as well.

You'd have to travel to thier state/country to prosecute though, probably costing more thna you want to spend on Lawyers, gas, board, and food.

You can file with your local police and ask them to send it to the place where the culprit lives.

Im sorry to hear this sort of thing happened to you. You could file charges, travel and spend all kinds of money. I would just pay someone to beat the living crap out of him. You be at your mothers having dinner as an alibi and if ever questioned you know nothing, you were at your mother's that night. and who a better witness than your mother. Case closed The legal system is a great thing, but sometimes a good beating is the easiest and most satisfying. Now mind you there are different degree's of beatings. Let's not cripple the poor guy for life for this infraction but let him know he's been a bad bad boy.

Sometimes and I mean Sometimes the you have to take the law into your own hands. Why waste your time and money on this when a good beating will be over and done with, case closed in no time. I will bet that Mr. Cocky Boy won't be harrasing anyone else for a long time. The courts will then be free to get the serious criminals.

That would not really be my advice.

come on annjd, you know as well as i do that the legal system won't do anything but take this persons money and possibly victimize them again.
Sometimes the law needs to be dished out in a back alley. i will bet that if you sue him hill be back messing with the victim. Give him a good beating and you won't hear a peep out of him. It may cure him of his nonsense.
