    Illinois Judge Warren Wolfson has been named acting dean of the DePaul University College of Law, which is in turmoil following the firing of Dean Glen Weissenberger last week.

    Wolfson, 76, an appellate judge in the 1st District of Illinois, was appointed to a two-year term that will start Aug. 15.

    A national search for a permanent dean will be launched next summer. Wolfson received his law degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

    Several law school faculty members have publicly expressed their objections to Weissenberger's ouster.

    Stephen Siegel, a constitutional-law scholar, has said he would resign as an associate dean when the university hired an interim dean. While he disagreed with Weissenberger's firing, Siegel said in an e-mail that his resignation is due to the university not consulting with the faculty before hiring a replacement:
