  • Preparing defense for a hearing

I am the respondent to a hearing regarding a Domestic Violence Prevention Request for Orders (DV-100). The DV-100 form and associated supplements contain only general charges. How can I prepare my defense case in advance without knowing what specific charges might be made?

Does a hearing permit the same degree of deposition, witnesses, attorney representation, etc that a trial provides?

You can try to ask the court or administrator conducting the hearing for more specific information in advance, or you may ask for a continuance at the hearing to bring evidence and witnesses to rebut the charges.
