  • Misinformation in the Marriage Certificate

Me and my husband are both Filipinos and still resides here in the Philippines. We got married in December of 1986. For us to qualify to be married without parental consent, my husband supplied a wrong date of birth in our marriage certificate Is our marriage valid?

Re: Misinformation in the Marriage Certificate

Generally, falsification of information will void an official document.
Due to a recent promotion, I should now be referred to as Major Obvious.

I would not be trying to provide information and knowledge if I did not sympathize.

Some days it is just not worth chewing through the restraints to face life.

Please note, the clarification and recognition of the falsification must be formally recognized by the governmental body it is referenced to. You cannot just run out and marry someone else.

Was one of you under age? If so, the marriage might be able to be annulled. But after all these years?

He was 25 yo and I was 24 yo. when we got married. I remember that the reason he gave me that time was for us to qualify to marry without parental consent. Some years ago, I came across an article about misinformation in marriage certificate and it's effect. I brought it to his attention and asked why he altered his date of birth. He wasn't able to give me a concrete answer. Out of curiosity I asked him if it was his intention from the very beginning to make our marriage invalid but he did not responded. Yes, we've been married for so many years and if I have only known earlier that our marriage is void I could have not allowed myself to suffer being with him for so many years.

Thank you very much for the response.
