My husband and I have been married for 36+ years, he is nearly 60 years old and has fallen in love with a 36 year old who works for him. I am physically disabled and have been for the past 6 years. I have never worked outside the home, at his request, and at 55 and with my disability would find it difficult to find a good paying job now at this stage of my life. My question is this, we still own a home together, he has offered to continue to support me and to provide for all my needs including giving me possession of the house while he continues to make the house payments, he has accumulated some credit card debt though, so I was wondering if by some remote chance he had to declare bankruptcy, yet was still able to make the payments on the home could the bank go after my house for his credit card debt even so and if so if there is a way to protect it from the banks taking it from me, I'm worried and I don't know what I would do in that event, I'd be homeless! Any advice you could give me I'd appreciate, I live in Washington State, am currently separated with a divorce pending, this really sucks!
