    Possible Child Support US Mexico

    I am a US citizen. A woman in mexico claims I am the father. Child has not been born yet. I have a couple questions:

    How would she sue for child support from mexico? Which country's laws take precedence? What are the rights awarded to the child if it is determined I am the father? Could I be thrown in jail?

    I wish to inform you that if you are not married then woman will first have to show that you are father of child. After paternity has been established then woman can claim child support. Laws of place where child is residing will govern legal action and jurisdiction in case of dispute.

      California is abut the only US state recognizing a child support order from Mexico. It is also the only US state likely to order paternity to determine you are the father.
      Due to a recent promotion, I should now be referred to as Major Obvious.

      I would not be trying to provide information and knowledge if I did not sympathize.

        We are not married so does that change the situation? Could she subpoena me from Mexico?

          In CA, yes. CA would handle the part with you in the US and your going to Mexico for the support hearing once paternity was proved is optional. The court would still make a ruling whether you were there or not.

              If it is your child and you intentionally dodge support, you are no better then illegals from Mexico that invade the US. If it is your child, you should support it.

                  I am not professional. I am a realist. If the child is yours, it deserves your support. I told you the laws, how you use them is the measure of you as a man.
