I live in California. My wife is ordered to pay me child support and recently lost her medical license as a result of gross misconduct. Her case was brought before a board in a scathing 17 page document which recounts all of her unlawful conduct and ultimately resulted in her license revocation. She is now unemployed and is insisting she does not have to pay me child support anymore. Does this situation constitute "voluntarily unemployed" and therefore does not get her off the hook in paying child support? I assume it does but am looking for validation. Help?

You are not going to get an answer here. The judge will decide. All we can do is prep you a bit.Due to a recent promotion, I should now be referred to as Major Obvious.
I would not be trying to provide information and knowledge if I did not sympathize.
Some days it is just not worth chewing through the restraints to face life.

Re: "Voluntarily unemployed" definition in California
At this point, I'm not so much concerned with how she can pay with no income. I'm more concerned with just understanding my positioning and whether I have a leg to stand on with the "voluntarily unemployed" argument. Thoughts?
