    What options do I have... Son's father is locked up for rape

    Cincinnati,OH.

    Recently over the weekend it was brough to my attention that my son's father is locked up in Boone County Jail. He is locked up for rape,child porn and child molestation. I have already contacted Child support to let them know what is going on. He already has two felonies and this makes it's third strike. The FBI was saying he has 10 children total. He has never seen my son nor is his name on the birth certificate. But we have DNA stating he is the father. My question is what should I do now? Should I have him sign over his rights? Because after this I seriously doubt he'll ever be allowed to be around children again. He is on federal in-transit hold down there.

    With the nature of the charges against him, it is unlikely he will be around the child -- or you -- or anyone who is not wearing a uniform anytime in the near future -- or this lifetime.

    Removing his rights -- without a visitation order in effect -- seems useless. If there is a visitation order, he would not be able to comply with it, allowed to travel from his soon to be long term home.

    It seems premature to take any kind of legal action at this point in time. There will be a trial. He will have a sentence. Then you can move to have visitation suspended or terminated. If it were me, I would not waste the time and effort at this point in time for too many things are not definite. Charges are one thing. A conviction and his sentence will give you more to go on.

      I wish to inform you that you may have termination of paternal rights of father. In this regard if father does not agree then you can obtain a court order. Alternatively if you do not intend to have termination of paternal rights then you can have sole child custody through court.

        He has never been in my son's life and his name is not even on his birth certificate. My son is sole custody with me. My son knows his dad's name that's it. I did inform child support this morning of what I found out over the weekend. To me he has no right he doesn't do anything for my son at all. I do it all. Thanks for the advice everyone

          The news did a story on him,link below. He has no bond and facing 20 years

            Why do anything? He won't be out of prison until the child is an adult.
            Due to a recent promotion, I should now be referred to as Major Obvious.

            I would not be trying to provide information and knowledge if I did not sympathize.

            Some days it is just not worth chewing through the restraints to face life.

              If that. Should I have him terminate his rights? I'm not ever getting support again.

                What purpose would it serve to attempt this? Termination of right and owing support are mutually exclusive events.

                  Everyone who knows him is shocked. He did 20 counts of rape with 11 month old and 8 yr old.
