If I am the custodial parent and my ex and I have joint custody, do I have to have his permission to move out of state with our child?

Presumably, you have a court order. If the court order requires notice, you must get the courts permission. If you need to modify the visitation schedule, to comply with the order, you must get the courts approval also at the modification. What does your order say?Due to a recent promotion, I should now be referred to as Major Obvious.
I would not be trying to provide information and knowledge if I did not sympathize.
Some days it is just not worth chewing through the restraints to face life.
