  • Pregnant with a child who's father I do not wish to be associated with

I am currently 4 months pregnant with a child who's father I do not wish to be associated with. The pregnancy was unplanned. I was wondering what the consequences of having my future husband to be (not the biological father) if he signed the birth certificate. I do not see the real father but I can contact him if need be, however I dont think he would be willing to sign over full parental rights. Could I get in trouble for letting my fiance sign the certificate? What are my rights in this situation?

    Re: parental rights

He normally should not do so if he knows he is not the father and you are not married.
The real father can have it changed in court and could try to allege fraud etc.

yes u can. you both know your fiance is not the father. its called fraud. you dont get to circumvent the father's rights that way. you need to establish paternity, get an order for cs, then marry your fiance and be married for a year, then take the step to do a stepparent adoption.

im currently in a situation similar to this. i was told that signing the birth certificate and affidavit of parentage isnt claiming to be the biological parent, it is only claiming legal responsibility for the child. if anyone knows otherwise, please correct me, i too dont want to get in any legal trouble over this.

if this guy was that bad you shouldnt have willingly spread your legs and had sex with him.. your fiance is not dad, and you could end up lsoing custody for lying for putting him on the bc when you know he isnt the father.you need to be married at elast a year and the dad must consent. untill then your fiance has no rights to your child at all

The child would be at least six years old now. And the problem resolved years ago. Why one picks up a post that old to answer mystifies!
