  • Attending a school: When the child support will end?

The California Child support site has it that child support generally continues until the minor child emancipates or until otherwise noted in the child support order. Under California law, a parent's obligation to pay support continues until the child becomes 18 years old. However, the current support obligation may continue until the child is 19, if the child is unmarried and attending high school full time.

What if the mother of the child asks the kid to drop for one year to enxtend the child support period?

My husban's kid was a "A" student and suddenly for the last year he just did not enrolled. He was to turn 18 next year a few months before graduation.

He is taking the a year off to work and then he will enroll back once he is 19. Is this legal?

Okay when the court order states that he pays child support till the child turns 18 or is attending school full time there is a period it's till he's 19 years old.. Well it will depend on the situation.. First of all If he;s not 18 years old and he dropped out of school you can file paper work in your local court house and have support changed since he is no longer attending school and he's working that proves that he is supporting himself. Just cause he dropped out for a year to go to work that right there shows to the judge that he wants to become a adult early so must likely they will stop support cause he's working and providing for himself and he's not attending school full time that is why they state 19 while attending school full time but cause he resides with i'm assuming his mother and he dropped out of school to work that tells the judge he is trying to provide for himself.. there is two things that you can do you can make him finish school that means file papers in court for him to reenroll into school to finish out his school year if he refuses then must likely support will stop if he reenrolls in school then he will still have to finish paying support but they might lowe it if he's going full-time but working on the side..But once he turns 19 they will no longer have to support him cause he should be out of school by then.. That is the best that I can say.. Good Luck...
