Unfair Forgery Charge

I was arrested in July for trying to cash a check that I thought was real at a check cashing place. I was questioned at the station and released. They never told me I was being charged with any thing just let me leave. NOw 3 days ago I received a call from the prosecutors office saying I have court for the arraignment of this matter in 2 weeks. This is 5 months later and I was never even informed that they were following through with this matter. Are they allowed to do this? Can they charge me with a forgery charge even though I did not sign that check and I never cashed it? And am I going to really get charged with the forgery charge when I go to court?

They can try, but you can make sure your explanation is heard. Unless you really knew and helped it to occur, you should be able to prevail. Hire counsel though if charges are filed.
