Insurance rates hike after first ticket in 20 yrs of driving

Hi: Is there a rule or custom these days about how much your rates go up after one ticket? Driver is 38 yrs old with no other past tickets.
I see some say 25% but is that really right? is it not regulated partially?
The ticket was for 41 in a 25 if it matters.
What could one expect?

Insurance companies have to file their rates with the state insurance department. The rates are approved if they aren't disapproved. Otherwise it's whatever that particular insurance company's rules are.

It might. The more serious the violation, the higher the insurance surcharge is likely to be.
