Can I prosecute?

My home was broken into while away on Christmas day.
Nothing has been done to date other than two separate
investigations, and some questioning. I am 99% positive
who is responsible. If the investigators are unable to come
up with substantial evidence to make an arrest, am I able
to prosecute this individual myself?

No--but you can sue in civil court.
...private detectives note it is often not who you think--so have some evidence.
