    In a case involving theft by check you may have following rights:
    i) Right to know charges against you.
    ii) Right to cross examine your witness.
    iii) Right to have a counsel.
    Other then above generally in theft by check case it depends upon the amount of check in order to know about the type of offence and its likely punishment. In this case you have a right to show evidence in your support. It is the duty of Plaintiff to prove their charges and then yours to defend yourself. Further, if you plead to a conviction it may result in a theft conviction on your criminal record which may not be removed.
