    Texas

Is a Texas used car dealership allowed to make changes (scratch outs) to their copy of a signed contract and not inform the buyer of the changes? Are there any checks and balances in place to protect consumers from this type of practice?

I wish to inform you that you cannot make any change in the contract without the consent of the other party. Change in contract will amount to amendment in the contract and hence this cannot be done without informing and taking consent of other party. Further, the consent of the person is dependent upon the terms informed to the person and any variation in these terms may affect the decision of the other party. Now, if you do not inform the other party of the changes then these facts being not informed to the other party cannot be enforced upon the other party. As such, the buyer may or may not accept the changes made to the contract at his discretion.
