  • Debts from deceased relatives

I have several family members living irresponsibly in money chaos (parents and siblings). I have worked hard all my life and spent/invested my money wisely (I am by no means wealthy, although I have excellent credit from living responsibly). I have tried to help out and/or provide responsible living advice, but to no avail.

Now I am worried that creditors may try to collect after their passing. I have never cosigned on any of their loans. Can I be hounded for family member's debt? Is there anything I can do to prevent this? How do I make sure I am not part of the deceased person's 'estate'?

Thank you for any advice or direction you can provide.

You are not lible for their debts in any way. Their esates will have to pay however if any assets remain when when they die.

u r not liable in any way after my grand mother died some creditor called my mother and said that my grand mother owed such and such my mom said well good luck collecting it we just buried her. She never heard from them again.
the only way u would be responsible is if u had co signed on anything which I would never advise anyone to do.
