Can I sue for more than what I originally claimed?

So, I filed a claim for money owed to me. I claimed a certain amount, but since it took almost 3 months to get a trial date, that money owed has increased by $1500. When I get to the trial, can I sue for more than I originally claimed? If I can come up with proof that he owes me more now than before?
Basically can the claim amount be changed from filing to the trial?

You can ask the court to amend the complaint and increase the amount, or file a separate action for the new losses.
