Sucked into a scam and may be facing identify theft.

I already sent a question via the Ask a Lawyer form, so I'll just copy the question here.

A few months ago I was drawn into supporting a scam. Somebody was creating an online game, I'll call him Victor as thats what I knew him as, and it looked like it had some potential, I donated a couple hundred dollars through PayPal. I highly regret this now and his partner was unaware of the scam, his name is Jamie, and is now trying to get my money back, but I'm afraid he won't succeed. I'm not sure of the age of either of these people so they might be minors. I recently made contact with Victor over an instant messenger program (AIM) and he threatened to post my credit card information all over the internet. I do not know if he knows how to do this or even has my information, but if he does I'm afraid of what he might do with it. Do you think that there is any chance of me winning my money back from him. Any advice would be extremely appreciated.

Does anybody have any idea of what I should do?

You could sue him in small claims, and/or file a police report. His threat is illegal as well by the way and is blackmail.

WLD lawyers could also probably track him down and collect especially if others were scammed as well. Check back with them as well.

Thanks. I just contacted him again and tricked him into thinking that I thought his partner is the scammer (which of course is a possibility that I won't rule out) and he gave me some contact information. I really doubt its real but its something. And about 30 others were scammed as well, I'll try to contact them. You've helped alot! Thanks
