Firing my divorce attorney

Can I cancel my retainer and service agreement with my divorce attorney if I don't like the results? I want to change lawyers but she says I really cannot do that because we are 45 days from trial in a one year case.

Sure, you can fire her. Just understand that whatever you have paid/owe her for her services to date, you will pay a new lawyer the same amount all over again for the new lawyer to start from scratch.

As for not liking the results, nobody ever likes the results of their divorce. It's quite often beyond anybody's control. The next lawyer might be worse.

Don't be too quick to judge. My divorce attorney was very bad and I stuck with her. Had situation reviewed by a competent legal mind and had I pursued she prob would have been sanctioned. The result that marriage is behind me it turns out; is good enough for me. That whole nasty process would have gone on for another couple years had I canned her.
