Urgent advice needed about Estate agency fee

I Signed a contract in 2000 being told it was no sale no fee to sell my property. I sent a notice terminating our agreement in feb 2002 as no one had come to view my property. Then they asked for a withdrawal fee of 500 pounds. I refused as i was told it was no sale no fee. Now a few years down the line they want their 5120 pound estate agency fee and have issued a court order. I am currently on income support but still cannot get any legal aid as the matter arised from a business, and i cannot afford a solicitor to represent me. If anyone can give some advice i would appreciate it.

Did they actually sue you already and win or get a default?

I ave just recieved a notice from the court yesterday stating that they are claiming for their agency fees. But i sent them a notice in feb 2002 to end the agreement. But as i said earlier they wanted 500 pounds plus vat for a withdrawal fee which i refused due to what thier agent had said. What i cannot understand is why didnt they take me to court over the 500 why now do they want their estate agency fees for 5120 pound plus interest.
