  • NY Bar admission and felony twenty years ago.

As a practical matter, can a person with a felony 15 yrs ago be admitted to the Bar in NY? I understand there may be no absolute prohibition.

Are the odds very limited or given the long passage of time is it likely to be granted, all other things being fine? What is the real practical situation no matter what the general rules might be?

The NY Bar like many Bars does not block you from admission for a felony.
They claim they want to see how your life changed for the better over time.
    BUT,
the reality is the Bar committees do not make it easy for felons and there are many stories of people waiting years and years even after passing all admission tests with flying colors.

Bottom line: it isn't easy. So is it worth it?
