Re: Lawyers!! Is it really worth it to be a lawyer??
Being a lawyer was once a profitable profession. Now it, like many other occupations is situationally profitable.Due to a recent promotion, I should now be referred to as Major Obvious.
I would not be trying to provide information and knowledge if I did not sympathize.
Some days it is just not worth chewing through the restraints to face life.

I wish to inform you that legal profession earnings depends upon individual to individual because its dependent upon various factors like knowledge, capability to plead before judges and finally to achieve success. The Legal profession may take some time for good earnings because initially a person starts a practice and at that time its a learning stage and then slowly a customer base is made who may hire you and that stage earnings of a lawyer increases.

There are excellent lawyers, good lawyers, average lawyers and poor lawyers. Just as any other profession. If you are going into it just for the money, my advice is "don't." Go into law because you love the law, not just for the money.
If you get into one of the top schools, you'll have a job before you leave your third year of law school. Ifyou contemplate one of the unaccredited night law schools, that's another matter.

You are posting two separate threads on the same question.
My suspicion is that in light of the questions you are asking, redundant posts, you would best be looking at another profession.

I tend to agree that you seem a little under prepared. You should work on researching more about if you truly have a passion for it, because it you don't you definitely won't make a lot of money.

Re: Lawyers!! Is it really worth it to be a lawyer??
I think that a lot of people go to law school because (1) being a lawyer carries a lot of prestige; and (2) law school is an easy choice for somebody who did pretty well in college, doesn't really know what to do with their life, and wants to duck the job market for a few years.
In my opinion, these are bad reasons to go to law school and I'm not surprised that there are a lot of unhappy attorneys out there.
If you want prestige and money, get an MBA or start a business

Reading up on the ABA Model Code will show what principles a lawyer must follow.
His first duty is to his profession, to uphold its standards in all dealings -- before the court, with his client, and with the public so he does not bring himself or his profession into disrepute.

I say that if you want to make a lot of money being a lawyer you need to specialize. The best thing I would advise is to become a specialist in Water law. There are going to be lots of money to be made in the future with people fighting over water rights.

The field of comparative law is one in which there is a great deal of opportunity for advancement and challenging work. Comparative lawyers may find their employment with business firms, with government organizations, or with any person or group which deals with countries other than the United States.
