Hi I have been receiving phone calls from debt collectors, Sterling United for example, for my brother-in-law. I have taken several messages and delivered them to him but apparrently he is not returning the calls. I have asked these collectors repeatedly to not call my house stating that my brother-in-law does not live here but they continue to call. I have even been threatened with a deposition when I have asked them not to call. Is there anything that I can do about this?

See http://www.worldlaw.eu/article/1412/
WLD will sue them for you and collect damages if they violate the rules.

What if the debt isn't yours and the person that belongs to that debt does NOT live in you house hold. I am not a co-signer or any kind with this person, yet I still have received repeated, very rude phone calls from this [Sterling United] company after asking them not to call my home.
