My dog broke out of our fence and ran in front of a bicyclist

My dog broke out of our fence and ran in front of a bicyclist causing him to wreck. He scaped his arm and said his ankle hurt but he was ok. But his bike was damaged. What are our legal obligations? We did offer to pay for his bike to be repaired.

You are 100% liable for his injuries and the bike damage because you failed to keep control of your dog. Your dog got out because you failed to keep him in.

The same liability attaches for property damage as well as bite or other injury.
